Oxford Nanopore Technologies Ltd., U.K. based biotechnological company, has developed USB memory stick sized DNA sequencer and named it MinION. They have used GridION platform.
GridION system has nodes and cartridges. Cartridges having array chips are consumable and used with nodes that are scalable instruments.
MinION has a sensor chip, ASIC and fluidics system to perform sensing experiments.
The miniaturized devices will be available for customers this year with MinION pricing at $900.
