Researchers from the University of Cambridge, Cambridge
Cognition, have developed an iPad app, Cantab that can help doctors in
diagnosing dementia.
This app checks the mood and the functional impairment;
giving the doctors better idea to proceed their screening and treatment.
Cantab is available in 20 languages and there are options
for printing the results or including them in the patient’s profile.
However, the developers have warned that the app is only for
preliminary diagnosis and is not a substitute for complete diagnosis, at least
at this time.
Cambridge Cognition is distributing the app to the registered
healthcare professionals only in the UK as it has not been designed for public
use still.
